The Department of general Diabetes is the key section in the hospital. Professor S.R. Bloom was specially invited to be the an external Professor in this department and President Wang Zhili is the Head. Besides Professor Wang, there are many other diabetes specialists in the Department: Professor Xiang Hongding, Vice-chairman of the Chinese Diabetes Society, Professor Li Shiming, Professor Qiu Wensheng, Professor Li Jing, Professor Sun Hongli and Professor Liu Zhimin. The nursing staff working in this department also have special training in the care of diabetic patients.

　　 The Department of General Diabetes includes an inpatient and outpatient service, as well as VIP service and a diabetes education center. Diabetic patient management in this Department involves clinical diagnosis, laboratory investigations and treatment with a combination of Western medicine, Traditional Chinese medicine, diet therapy and life style modification. The doctors are experienced in using modern medical diagnostic equipment and treatment systems in order to give patients the best diabetes care. Medical instruments, such as electric syringe pumps, insulin pumps, continuous blood glucose monitoring systems, bedside monitors, electrocardiogram machines, and a defibrillator, are all available for diagnostic and treatment procedures for patients in this Department.
